Northamptonshire: Two Councils, Two Routes to Business Support

Since the old Northamptonshire County Council issued a Section 114 notice in 2018, the area has been reorganised into two councils, North Northamptonshire and West Northamptonshire. If you run an independent business there, it helps to know which council to call.

North Northamptonshire Council

• Business & IP Centre Northamptonshire: support in libraries for people with an idea, from launch to growth.
• HiStreet: a campaign promoting local businesses and high streets.
• Powering Change: free support to cut energy use and emissions, including help writing a Carbon Reduction Plan.

West Northamptonshire Council

• Help to start a new business and free help for local employers.
• A business toolbox and a funding and allocations page.
• Workplace wellbeing support and an Invest in West Northants team.
• A business e-newsletter sign-up.

Neither page states eligibility criteria, so contact the relevant council before you plan around any programme.
