The £75 million question: can livery impact become easier to see, join and multiply?

The livery already delivers at serious scale. The next frontier is discoverability, measurement and participation.

The City of London’s Pan Livery reporting records aggregate giving of £75 million, alongside substantial voluntary professional support. Those numbers should change the way the public thinks about the livery: this is not a marginal civic curiosity.

But impact hidden is impact constrained

Philanthropy, mentoring, bursaries, apprenticeships and professional networks are most powerful when the people who need them can find them. Digital discoverability is therefore not cosmetic. It is part of access.

The difficult question is not “Does the livery do good?” The evidence says it does. The question is: can the next beneficiary, apprentice, volunteer or partner find the right door quickly enough?

Alive! is building that discovery layer. Our existing database tracks Livery Companies across websites, LinkedIn and other social channels, exposing both strong digital footprints and gaps where public routes are difficult to verify.

Call to action

Livery leaders: check your discoverability. Members: share a verified route into your Company. Employers and schools: identify three Companies aligned with your learners or workforce and make one introduction this week.
